The Witcher 3 Switch’s New Update Adds Improved Visuals And Cross-Saves With Steam And GOG

The patch is live in select regions.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt came to the Nintendo Switch last year and was pretty impressive in and of itself. While obviously nowhere near the visual fidelity of the other versions, the fact that such big game could even be done on the Switch was quite the feat, and it seemed to give Wild Hunt a big sales boost as well. Port developer Saber Inactive has been working on a new patch for a while, promising it’d be “worth the wait,”, and it’s finally here.

The update is being slowly rolled out worldwide now, with it reportedly live in several Asian and EU regions. The update gives the game a much needed boost with a sharper image quality (though still don’t quite expect it to look near the level of the other console versions). But another big thing is that it will now support cross-saves with both Steam and GOG. That means you can actually have the game on PC and take your save on the go with the Switch version. That is probably worth the wait for some. You can see photos of the update from Korean site Ruliweb, where they first reported it going live in South Korea.

It’s unclear why the update is being rolled out in this nature, but it’s currently available in select regions. There’s no word on when a worldwide release will come, but it should be soon.
