The Witcher Netflix Series’ Geralt Will Draw Inspiration From CD Projekt RED’s Interpretation

'Lambert, Lambert, what a prick.'

Netflix has already confirmed its intention to make a new original series based on The Witcher, something that has got a lot of fans worldwide excited. Imagining a high budget Netflix original set in the Witcher world, a la HBO’s high fantasy epic TV drama Game of Thrones, is an alluring prospect indeed.

However, while Netflix has previously stated that the TV series from them will be based on author  Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, Director Tomasz Baginski, who is in charge of the series for Netflix, stated in an interview with Inn Poland, that Geralt in the TV series will be drawing inspiration from CD Projekt RED’s take on the character, too.

People familiar with The Witcher mythos are aware that Geralt in the books and Geralt in the games is significantly different- this actually owes itself to the fact that Geralt is suffering from amnesia in the games, which leads to a full reset of his personality, for all purposes. It sounds like the Netflix show will draw inspiration from both takes on the character, and forge something completely new and unique.

Whatever it is, we can’t wait to see how it goes.
