PlatinumGames is fairly busy this year, with Astral Chain coming to the Nintendo Switch, Babylon’s Fall still slated for the PS4 and PC, and other unannounced projects (with Bayonetta 3 also in the works). Could a Switch port of The Wonderful 101, the quirky Wii U action adventure from 2013, also be in development? Maybe, maybe not, but a recent interview with Platinum’s executive director and producer Atsushi Inaba does make you think.
At the BitSummit 7 Spirits, Inaba was asked by Gematsu what fans needed to do to make PlatinumGames bring The Wonderful 101 to Switch. Inaba previously talked about the title being Switch-bound and responded, “Yeah, I think I said that on multiple occasions. And I’m glad that I did. So if you could be patient with it, that’ll be great.”
Be patient until the upcoming Nintendo Direct on June 11th at 9 AM PT? Perhaps especially since it’s smack dab at the beginning of E3 opening up. Expect a number of other high profile announcements from Nintendo regarding The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Luigi’s Mansion 3 (which will also be playable on the show floor). But keep your fingers crossed for The Wonderful 101 just in case.
