This New Trailer For Assassin’s Creed Unity Provides Three Minutes of Gameplay Footage, Interlaced With ‘Celebrity’ Voiceovers

WTF did I just watch?

The good news: we finally get uninterrupted, spontaneous and organic gameplay footage of Assassin’s Creed Unity that shows us just what the game plays like, without any handpicked or doctored footage in question made to look the game better. This is our first such look at the game, and what with us being just weeks away from the game’s official launch, it is much appreciated.

The bad news? Unless you decide to watch the footage on mute (highly recommended in this case), you will have to put up with these baffling, absolutely, jarringly out-of-place impersonations of multiple ‘celebrities’ as they attempt to demonstrate how the game is played in co-op: I’m talking celebrity impersonations of figures like Sir David Attenborough, Alan Curr, Schwarzenegger, and Morgan Freeman. Their commentary frankly gets distracting, and at times you wonder if this isn’t just a fan-made thing being mistaken for something official.

Unfortunately, it isn’t. To quote my editor, ‘Yes, this is official. No, I don’t know why either.’
