As of today, Xbox 360 owners who happen to subscribe to Time Warner Cable will be granted the ability to access live cable streaming via a new TWC app, which represents the combined efforts of Time Warner Cable and Microsoft.
The app, which was announced this past June, is only available to Xbox Live Gold members in the US at this point in time.
The app is supported by the Kinect sensor, with working voice and gesture controls, and it includes a guide which allows users to sort content by different categories, such as channel names, genre, show titles, and more. Additionally, TWC radio stations will be available through this new app.
With this app, TWC is now the third major cable provider to stream content through the Xbox 360, following Verizon FiOS and Comcast. However, the Verizon FiOS app only offers 75+ channels, whereas the new TWC app will offer up to 300 live streaming channels, based on the subscription package.
As of now, there is no Video On Demand capability with the new TWC app, but Microsoft has stated that the two are working together to bring in VOD functionality.
