Titanfall 2 is “Not About First Day”, “First Week” of Sales – EA CFO

EA says it's all "about the long run."

Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall 2 has received quite the ovation from multiplayer shooter fans even if it’s sandwiched between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which many believe has led to a less than stellar reception. At this point, we know that first week sales in the UK are lower than its predecessor.

At the UBS Conference, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said the current outlook for the franchise is in the long-term and not in first day or week sales. “We remind people we’re building a franchise with Titanfall, so it’s not about the first day of sales or the first week of sales, it’s about the long run.

“We’ll do a lot of things with Titanfall to continue to build engagement. We’re going to give away a substantial amount of free extra digital content going into next year. And really build the franchise around people and engaging with the title. Because everyone who has played it just loves it.”

What are your thoughts on this approach and will it lead to Titanfall 2 having a significantly stronger population count through its lifetime? Let us know in the comments.
