Dontnod Entertainment’s Twin Mirror received new trailer at the PC Gaming Show and offered some more mystery behind protagonist Sam Higgs. However, information began circulating after the show about the game no longer being episodic. The developer has now confirmed the same in a press release.
“To further meet the expectations of the community and fans of narrative adventure games, the experience has been completely redesigned to allow players to enjoy this psychological thriller without interruption. Originally planned as an episodic game, Twin Mirror will be released in a single full experience in 2020.” This is likely the result of feedback for Life is Strange 2 which had long intervals between its episodes.
Said feedback also impacted Tell Me Why, Dontnod’s other upcoming adventure mystery title. It centers on twins Tyler and Alyson as they revisit their hometown and attempt to piece together childhood memories, with the player experiencing memories from each person’s point of view. While the game is still episodic, the development team is looking to release all three episodes by mid-2020 for Xbox One and PC.
As for Twin Mirror, it’s slated to launch later this year for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The PC version will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store as Dontnod works on “accelerating the implementation of its development strategy towards more self-publishing and co-production”.
