Massive publisher Ubisoft has always been at odds with PC gamers- it has consistently shoehorned the most draconian forms of DRM for PC versions of its popular games, its games usually get launched far later on PC, and when they do, the ports are almost always poor.
But it looks like they are trying to make amends- they recently joined the Open Gaming Alliance, and swore their commitment to the PC platform, and to PC gamers.
“PC gamers are important to Ubisoft, and we’re committed to better understanding and addressing their needs and to continually improving our relationship with them. By joining the OGA, we’re able to glean gamer insights from their research, learn from best practices in our industry, and contribute to the group’s upcoming initiatives,” they said.
Hopefully, they can walk the talk- Ubisoft has a terrible reputation with PC gamers, and they would do well to not irrevocably alienate a major portion of the gaming market.
