UK Game Charts: Mortal Kombat X Debuts on Top, Sets New Record

Grand Theft Auto 5 sales up 94 percent following PC release.

When NetherRealm Studios said that Mortal Kombat X was the biggest launch in franchise’s history, it wasn’t kidding. According to Gfk Chart-Track, which tracks game sales in the UK across all platforms, Mortal Kombat X is not only the second fastest selling release of 2015 but is the fastest selling in the series.

It debuted at number one with the PS4 version comprising 61 percent of retail sales while the Xbox One notched up 38 percent of sales. The PC version only accounted for 1 percent of sales at retails but this doesn’t account for digital download sales.

Previous number one Battlefield: Hardline is now in third place while Grand Theft Auto 5’s PC release helped boost sales by 94 percent to keep it at second place. Other noteworthy performances include FIFA 15 at fourth place, Bloodborne in fourth and Far Cry 4 at fifth place. Interestingly, along with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Minecraft on Xbox/PlayStation, Dying Light managed a spot in the top ten for the past week.
