Mixed reviews, disappointments and “No Man’s Buy” memes aside, Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky is a great success in the UK thus far. According to Gfk Chart-Track, the procedurally generated space adventure is the second biggest PS4 launch ever (Uncharted 4 being the first) and it’s biggest launch for a new IP on the console.
When talking about IP launches encompassing all publishers and formats in the UK, it actually ranks fifth behind Destiny, Watch Dogs, The Getaway (PS2) and The Last of Us (PS3). That’s pretty good for a debut, especially when it comes from a relatively smaller development studio.
Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto 5 saw sales drop by 22 percent and went to second place. It was followed by Overwatch, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Rocket League, FIFA 16, DOOM, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Minecraft: Xbox Edition encompass the rest of the top ten.
No Man’s Sky may be doing great on the PS4 but it’s experiencing its fair share of issues on the PC. What are your thoughts on thus far? Let us know below.
