Uncharted Movie Pulled From Sony’s Release Schedule

Another delay.

Uncharted games have set a new standard in cinematic storytelling in video games- so it makes sense that people want to see them turned into movies, too. And when Sony announced that they themselves would be handling bringing Nathan Drake’s exploits to the big screen via their Sony Pictures department, people were actually excited- there was a chance we might actually end up getting a good video game movie for a change.

But really, that was always a pipe dream- the project has seen a complete lack of direction and leadership ever since it was first announced, with a plethora of actors, directors, and writers having been attached to it at some point or the other. So it really should not come as any surprise to anyone that Sony have apparently removed the Uncharted film from their release calendar (via VG247)- this means that for now, the movie is not releasing, and that it is certainly not releasing by its previously announced June 2017 date.

That’s a bummer- but it sounds like the project is a complete and total mess. So if more time and a full reboot are what is needed to get this thing out the door and have it not sucked, Sony should end up taking as much time as they need, I say.
