Riot’s competitive first person shooter Valorant has been in closed beta for a while now, and with that beta approaching its end soon, many have been wondering when the full game will be announced. In an update video posted by the developer on YouTube (which you can view below), executive producer Anna Donlon and game director Joe Ziegler announced that the game will launch for free worldwide on June 2, days after its beta closes on May 28.
Shortly after Valorant launches in full, it will also be receiving a new mode, a new map, a new playable agent, and more new content, while Riot are also setting up new servers for the game to prepare for its imminent full release. How quickly all of this happens after release isn’t something the developers have said just yet, but hopefully it won’t be too long.
Since Valorant entered closed beta in April, hype and excitement surrounding the game have been high, while reception to it has also been very positive. In April, over 334 million hours of Valorant gameplay were watched by people around the world on Twitch across the entire month, so clearly people are hungry for more.
Valorant will be launching on PC, but the developers are also looking into bringing it to consoles and mobile devices. Read more on that through here.
