The future is coming, and it seems to be streaming. Or well, at least it seems that’s where a lot of companies eventually want to end up at, though it’s not sure yet how it’ll all go. Sony with PS Now, Microsoft with xCloud and Google with Stadia are all examples of current or upcoming projects that are targeting this new method of deliver. And it’s possible that Valve may be looking to get into it as well.
According to a new update from sister code site, there’s many references to a “Steam Cloud Gaming” in the new files, which you can check out for yourself through here.
Since this is just code for now, we have to put this under speculation. It could potentially refer to a lot of things, though the emphasis on the word “cloud” definitely invokes a program in the vein of the above listed services. Considering Valve’s position in the PC market, it also wouldn’t be a surprise to see soon. Stay tuned.
