One of the most surprising releases from last year was the RGG Studios-developed re-release of Virtua Fighter 5, called Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown. While the game certainly couldn’t grab strong player base compared to its peers for various reasons, from not having rollback netcode to being a niche series, the developers are still actively supporting it. And with fighting games having crossovers with each others becoming something of a rarity these days, Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown will be collaborating with a popular 3D fighter.
Announced during the Virtua Fighter 5’s Virtua Fighter esports challenge cup, the game will be collaborating with Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7. The collaboration will see mostly customization options for the game, such as Akira and Lau receiving the Kazuya and Heihachi costumes from Tekken 7 respectively, along with a Tekken-style HUD and a new stage from the Tekken series arriving in Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown.
No official release date for the update or price has been announced by SEGA yet. However, it is safe to assume that in the upcoming weeks, we’ll get to hear more news regarding the upcoming content update.
