During the recent Warhammer Skulls event, Frontier Developments unveiled a new game based on the Warhammer Age of Sigmar setting. Titled Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, the game will be an RTS, and will feature single-player and multiplayer game modes. Check out the announcement trailer below.
The trailer doesn’t give us any real indication of what the gameplay will look like, featuring only pre-rendered footage. Warhammer The trailer has, however, revealed that the game will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and is slated to get a gameplay reveal some time in June.
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin will be set in the Realm of Beasts, dubbed Ghur. Its single-player campaign will revolve around the forces of Order sending celestial, reforged champions called the Stormcast Eternals to reclaim the realm. One of the primary antagonists of the campaign will be an Orruk faction called the Kruleboyz.
The game is being developed for PC and consoles simultaneously, and will feature a unique control scheme for players using a controller. Players will be able to cycle through their squads and issue orders by using the analogue sticks and a few button presses. PC players, on the other hand, will be able to make use of the classic mouse and keyboard control scheme they would expect from an RTS.
The title will feature four playable factions that will be distinct from each other both visually as well as mechanically. The game will also pull from the vast array of Warhammer Age of Sigmar creature designs to feature variety in its units, from gigantic monsters to fast-moving flyers to mystical wizards.
