While some critics and fans of Watch Dogs were largely disappointed by what the game had to offer, Ubisoft believes the title was the first step in something quite a bit better and bigger. The company has been on a bit of a press tour about the game that was released quite a while back. That has led others to believe the firm might be on the cusp of announcing Watch Dogs 2.
Specifically, the company doesn’t seem to be shooting down the rumors there will be a sequel but the firm also hasn’t said the game is coming this year. Ubisoft did say they got quite a bit of feedback on what worked and what didn’t work in Watch Dogs. The firm has said it will be definitely be putting what it learned from the game into the next iteration. Creative Director Jonathan Morin recently spoke to Polygon about the the game and what the firm learned.
“This project was ambitious from the get go so we were very excited to have this opportunity to feed our minds with so much player feedback. Add the press [feedback] and our own internal data and we now have everything we need to identify what worked and what could be improved. Watch Dogs is a great game. But it is also the beginning of something bigger,” Morin said.
While Ubisoft has not said exactly when Watch_Dogs 2 is going to release, there are rumors claiming it will be releasing later this year.
