In our recent interview with the creator and director of Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey, Ragnar Tørnquist has shared his thoughts about current gen consoles i.e. the PS4 and Xbox One.
GamingBolt asked Tørnquist whether he thinks with time the PS4 and Xbox One’s API and GPU tools will get better so that they will be able to compete with the high end PC GPUs out there, to which he replied:
“Oh, definitely. Just take a look at some of last year’s games — such as GTAV or The Last of Us — and how far they pushed the ancient, creaking hardware. I have no doubt that there’s a ton of potential locked away in this new hardware, and we’re itching to unlock it. I can’t wait to see the next wave of next-gen games — I’m sure we’ll experience some amazing worlds and concepts in the months and years to come. The console isn’t dead quite yet.”
Tørnquist makes a point. Both Grand Theft Auto 5 and The Last of Us pushed boundaries on last gen consoles and it will be definitely interesting to see what developers will do with these current gen consoles that are pumped with a ton of memory.
