After spending years telling fans that they didn’t really want classic World of Warcraft (i.e., the game as it used to be pre-expansions), Blizzard finally capitulated and announced World of Warcraft Classic, which is exactly what the name sounds like—an official server that will host World of Warcraft as it used to be back in the day.
Today, at Blizzcon, Blizzard announced more details about World of Warcraft Classic, including that it will be out in 2019 (which is pretty soon!), and that it will be free for all current subscribers. This is definitely good news, and probably not somenthing that a lot of people may have been expecting—basically, as long as you subscribe, you can now bounce back and forth between classic and modern World of Warcraft. That’s pretty cool of Blizzard. Fans of old school Warcraft are just going to be served well next year between this and the newly announced Warcraft 3 Reforged.
Of course, you may just want to play modern World of Warcraft. In that case, make sure to check out our review for the Battle for Azeroth expansion, to know what you are getting into.
