Xbox 360 Sells 261,000 Units in March – 27th Consecutive Month on Top in US

The beast continues to stand tall.

According to Microsoft, it has sold 261,000 units of the Xbox 360 in March in the United States. This is the 27th consecutive month that the console has spent as the best-selling console in the country, beating out even new devices like the Wii U.

The total amount of retail spent on the Xbox 360 in March, which includes hardware, accessories and software, totaled $402 million. This was also the highest for any console in the country.

The release of titles like Gears of War: Judgment, despite its underwhelming sales in comparison to Gears of War 3, Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider can be credit for the high sales gain.

Microsoft has been mostly silent on the next generation of its Xbox console and faced a lot of flak for it. While the new Xbox, rumoured to be called the Xbox 720, might be seen at E3 2013 (with more info arriving in May apparently), there’s no denying the tremendous amount of momentum that Microsoft has going forward.
