The official figures for the Xbox 360’s sales in the US during the Black Friday weekend (November 18th to November 23rd) have been revealed, and Microsoft’s console has performed extremely well.
Major Nelson reports that the Xbox 360 sold over 750,000 units in the US during the week. Add to that the fact that it also managed to heavily outsell its newly released competitor, the Wii U, which sold 400,000 units during the same duration, and it becomes an even more impressive feat.
Even Xbox Live got some action- Xbox Live’s Gold Subscription sales have gone up more than 50 per cent over last year’s Black Friday sales. More than 14 million people were online on Xbox Live on Sunday, 18th November, amounting to a total of 72 million hours of use in just one day.
“Compared to 2011, we’ve seen a 43 percent increase in U.S. entertainment application hours logged on Xbox LIVE during the week of Black Friday,” Major Nelson adds.
Those are certainly impressive sales, and considering that the holiday season proper is yet to begin, we expect the best is yet to come.
