Xbox One sales in Japan have been pitiful since the console’s launch in September with only 40,000 units sold since then. As a result, Xbox Japan general manager Takashi Sensui has resigned.
Well, sort of. It seems that Sensui has “stepped down” from his current role, according to a report in Famitsu (translated by Kotaku). Yoshinami Takahashi and Nobuyoshi Yokoi have taken over his role while Sensui has relocated to Microsoft’s Redmond office to assume the position of Interactive Entertainment Business general manager. The job will reportedly focus on providing a link between the US and Japan teams as Sensui reports to Xbox VP Mike Nichols.
It’s a weird situation to be sure – Sensui was most likely taken out of his current role in order to shake things up and hopefully provide for better business with the Xbox One in Japan.
