Microsoft has revealed its revenue and net income for the first quarter of FY 2018.

Microsoft has finally revealed the financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2018. The quarter ended on September 30th and the company offered information on reported revenue for its various gaming ventures.

It first noted that the More Personal Computing Sector (which Xbox belongs to) experienced revenue of $9.4 billion, up by $9.3 billion from the same period last year. Xbox software and services revenue grew by 21 percent with gaming revenue up by 1 percent from $1.885 billion to $1.896 billion year-over-year. Though hardware revenue was lower, digital distribution and strong performance of its titles helped to counter that.

The number of Xbox Live users is up from 47 million in Q1 FY 2017 to 53 million users this quarter and encompasses users on Windows 10, Xbox One and mobile. Overall, Microsoft had $24.5 billion in revenue, an increase of 12 percent year-over-year, and a net income of $6.6 billion, up from $4.7 billion year-over-year.

With the Xbox One X releasing worldwide on November 7th, it should be interesting to see the effect on Microsoft’s financials.
