We are very close now to Microsoft’s next generation console, the Xbox Series X. But for quite some time there were rumors swirling around that Microsoft had a more complex idea in mind for their next generation offerings, specifically having a high-end and low-end version of their console, what was rumored to be the codenamed Anaconda (the Series X) and Lockhart (rumored to be called the Series S). There have been back and forth rumors about whether or not the Lockhart concept was dropped, but it seems that it’s in the code one way or another.
As Twitter user TitleOS pointed out, when you dig through the OS code of the Windows Libraries, you actually see reference to the Lockhart, alongside codenames we know were for other Xbox systems such as the Scorpio that became the Xbox One X.
It doesn’t necessarily mean the system is still a-go, but it’s probably a good indication it could be. The last rumor was that the system would be unveiled during May Xbox event, but that obviously never happened. We know that more Xbox-related events are planned for this month and the coming months, so we may see Lockhart/Series S yet.
