Xbox One App Announced for Windows 10

Get a SmartGlass-like interface on your PC, complete with game recording functions.

Xbox division head Phil Spencer spoke at Microsoft’s recent Windows 10 event about the new Xbox One app that would be heading to the operating system.

Gaming on Windows 10 will apparently aim to be “more social and interactive” with the app showing all the games played across both Xbox and PC. The interface is very close to SmartGlass in that you can view game clips, notifications, messages and achievements. You can also view your friends list and track achievements as well.

If you want to record footage from games using the Xbox One app, you can and this functionality extends to Steam games as well. Simply hit “Windows + G” for the different recording options.

No word yet on when the Xbox One app will become available with Windows 10 but it’s certainly an interesting announcement and will go a long way towards the unified platform that Microsoft has been working towards. Let us know what you think in the comments.
