Xbox One August 2014 Update Details

Xbox One August 2014 Update Focuses On Social Elements.

Details regarding the Xbox One August 2014 Update have surfaced online thanks to YouTube user Arekkz Gaming posting a video on his channel detailing some of the new features included in the update.

The Xbox One August 2014 Update is currently only available to gamers that are in the preview program, but it will be made available to all Xbox One users later in the month, though no specific date has been given.

The August 2014 update seems to focus mostly on social interactions and player interaction, but it also brings a handful of highly requested features to the console.

When accessing the People app, you will notice that the Activity Feed has been changed into one single elongated column, this gives players access to a larger backlog of Activities that includes achievement unlocks, gameplay videos or even status updates.

Gamers can also Like and Share any activity that they are viewing on the Activity Feed, further emphasising the Xbox Ones social features. Shared activity can also be sent directly to specific people through the use of the Message system or shared directly to your friends Activity Feed. You can also comment on Activity to open up threads of conversation amongst you and your friends.

The August Update also enables video playback from within the Activity Feed which can also be commented on, liked and shared through the above mentioned methods.

The Upload app also now makes use of the Like and Share functions with users having the ability to like and share specific clips that are found therein. Further more, a Trending window is now visible which will show you trending content related to your most frequently searched items.

One of the more significant inclusions in the August Update is the ability to make purchases through your mobile devices. Xbox.com and Smartglass can now be used to purchase content for your games to enable downloads purchases made at a distance.

A highly requested feature, the Low Battery warning, has now been included. You’ll no longer find yourself caught out and surprised when your controller dies mid way through a crucial battle without receiving a warning!

There’s now an option to disable notifications when you’re watching video content, this means no more bothersome notifications when you’re trying to enjoy something.

And finally, perhaps the most useless part of the Update. 3D Blu Ray playback is now enabled. Because apparently, that’s still a thing.
