Xbox One Hard Drive Apparently Tops Out At 362 GB

Where's the missing 138 GB?

In a recent test performed by IGN in which an Xbox One had games installed on it to the point of capacity, it was determined that your standard Xbox One can hold 362 Gigabytes of data out of it’s 500 Gigabyte data limit. What are the implications of this?

Well, there could be a few things going on here. One would be that the built in system dashboard and pre-loaded elements are accounting for the missing 138 Gigabytes, but that sounds a little extreme, don’t you think? It’s also possible that Microsoft has imposed a game data limit, in which the amount of space taken up by game information is limited as to provide enough space for players to save their game data. Save issues can bee one of the more frustrating aspects of gaming in general.

Either way, 138 gigs short is a little disappointing. It’s no 12 GB PlayStation 3, advertising the full 500 gigabytes seems a little shady if you ask me.
