Is Microsoft working on a lighter, slimmer version of the Xbox One? It hasn’t said so but blogger Brad Sams, reporting on Petri, has cited internal sources that indicate a discussion is ongoing. Take this all with a grain of salt because “discussing” isn’t the same as “happening”.
Sams stated that, “I have heard from internal sources that the company is considering plans for a lightweight Xbox One that may only be for Windows store games and would compete with the Apple TV. But it’s not clear if these plans have been scrapped.”
Reports have emerged in the past about a slimmer Xbox One and these came up not too long after the console launched in 2013. Though they never really amounted to anything, the new console is “said to be from a similar vein” according to Sams. It could potentially release in the second half of 2016 with a lower price point than the Xbox One.
Microsoft for its part told GameSpot that, “We do not comment on rumor or speculation” so take that for what you will. What are your thoughts on a slimmer Xbox One for 2016 though? Let us know in the comments.
