It should come as no surprise to Microsoft that they have seen a rather impressive rate of gamers wanting to take advantage of the Xbox One Game Preview Program. The number of people who have applied to join the program is so high these days, that the company has announced it is actually going to start slowing down the rate at which it allows new entries. Program Manager Emily Hanson recently announced on the private preview forums that the company is making this move because the Game Preview Program is almost at its capacity.
“Due to a tremendous response from our fans, the Xbox Preview program has reached a near capacity level. With that in mind, we are slowing the number of new people we are accepting to optimize for testing. We are thankful for the amount of interest we’ve received to date and look forward to sharing more details on preview opportunities soon.” She announced on the forums. This particular development really shouldn’t be surprising considering the company announced that sooner or later, members of the program would actually get an early look at first party titles.
There has long been quite a bit of interest in early access games. It’s hard to believe but it hasn’t been that long since the computer Steam first started allowing customers to purchase early versions of games they were interested in. The Xbox One Game Preview allows users the same kind of access and once actual first party games are on offer, the program will be an even bigger perk.
