The Xbox One S lacks the dedicated port that is necessary to plug in the Kinect (which is as damning an indictment of Kinect’s overall standing with Microsoft currently as there ever was), but Microsoft are at least offering an adapter to those Kinect enthusiasts who may want to use the accessory with the new console.
Today, a price listing on Amazon revealed that the adapter would be $39. The listing seems to show an adapter that is very similar to the adapter for Kinect for Windows that already exists, meaning that it may be possible to use this adapter to plug in a Kinect for Xbox One into a PC as well.
Of course, if you already own a Kinect, Microsoft will send you an adapter for free, should you want one. This adapter is strictly for those people who don’t yet own an Xbox One, buy an Xbox One S, then buy a Kinect, and then want to actually use that Kinect- all three of you.
