Xbox One Sells in 2.4 Million Units to Retailers in Q1 FY2015

Total earnings for the quarter amount to $23.20 billion.

During a conference call to investors, Microsoft revealed that it had sold in 2.4 million units of the Xbox One to retailers during the first quarter of the 2015 fiscal year ending on September 30th. This does not represent units sold to consumers but does somewhat indicate the level of demand for the console.

Units sales have shown a 102 percent growth and Devices and Consumer division of Microsoft reported a revenue of $10.96 billion, indicating a 47 percent increase. The total number of earnings amounted to $23.20 billion for the quarter.

Coupled with the announcement in August – which was removed shortly after – that the Xbox One had sold 5 million console worldwide, the tally would stand at 7.4 million units if Microsoft manages to sell through the recently revealed 2.4 million units.

Though it’s nowhere near the PS4’s stated total of 10 million consoles sold worldwide as of August 2014, the Xbox One could see improved sales in the coming month with the release of Sunset Overdrive and Halo: The Master Chief Collection (not including sales from Forza Horizon 2, which launched at the end of September).
