Xbox One X Is Going To Be ‘Badass’ Once Games Are Optimized For It, Says Crackdown 3 Developer

"The difference between Xbox One X and PS4 Pro is night and day."

The Xbox One X is going to be the most powerful system ever made, but it does feel like Microsoft is playing it up a bit too much- a strategy that its development partners are also running away with. Take Sumo Digital, the folks working on the long awaited upcoming Crackdown 3, for instance.

Speaking to the Official Xbox Magazine (OXM), Sumo Digital’s Design Director Gareth Wilson said that the system eats ’15K props for breakfast’, and that it will be ‘badass’ once games are optimized for it. “We’ve got something like 15K simultaneous props moving around in our game. Now the Xbox One X just eats them for breakfast,” he said.

“You can just go and go and go with it. Once we start making games that are optimized for that platform, it’s going to be badass. I don’t mind saying that it’s significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 4 Pro, and we’ve worked with PS4 Pro. It’s way more powerful. It’s a night and day difference.”

At the very least, I do agree that it is far beyond what the PS4 Pro is capable of, and that if it is ever fully leveraged, the results will be stunning. The question is- will developers ever fully optimize for it? If the PS4 Pro or even the original Xbox are anything to go by, that doesn’t seem too likely…
