Xbox One X Is ‘Super Quiet’, 4K Patch Compulsion On Base Xbox One Model Depends On Developers

Hear the latest on the Xbox One X from Microsoft execs.

While several Xbox One owners and prospective Xbox One X buyers are probably looking forward to 4K updates for quite a lot of video games, both released and upcoming, there are still a number of people who are not interested in those updates, or will not be able to make any use of them. For those people, the updates seem unnecessary.

When asked on Twitter if these updates will be optional, Xbox’s corporate vice president Mike Ybarra confirmed that developers can make it optional should they wish to do so. Does it mean that not all of them will be optional to begin with? It’s a little unclear, though that’s what he seems to be saying. Furthermore, it was recently revealed that users who have the alpha preview build would be able to download 4K patches for their games so that they can be ready for the Xbox One X. But it seems that 4K content is not ready yet, according to Ybarra.

The head of marketing at Xbox, Aaron Greenberg, also took to Twitter to answer some fan questions. One of them asked how loud (or not) the Xbox One X was, and Greenberg replied that it is “super quite”, especially considering how much power it puts out. That is, of course, something we’ve heard before, and it does seem to be true, but we’ll find out for sure when the Xbox One X launches on November 7.
