Xbox One X Pre-Orders Sold Out In Japan- Report

Will Xbox One X be the comeback kid?

Xbox has traditionally never done well in Japan- the original was a total bust, the Xbox One was outsold by the Switch in one week, and the Xbox 360 is the sole spot of light for the Xbox line in the country, having sold a healthy million plus units there.

Nonetheless, the Xbox fanbase in the country, such as it is, appears to be excited enough at the prospect of the upcoming Xbox One X; Game Watch reports (via DualShockers) that the pre-orders for the system are sold out at all major retailers, and that there will be no units available for walk-in pick-ups on day one. This indicates either that the console is actually doing well in Japan, or that shipments were heavily limited (probably the latter, given Xbox’s historical inability to sell in the country).

We’ll know for sure how Xbox One X did next week, when Media Create and Famitsu release numbers for this week- I wouldn’t expect much on that front, honestly, because the Switch and PS4 are too deeply entrenched at this point. Still, who knows, they may surprise us.
