The Xbox One X may be an appealing prospect for new customers, people who have not owned an Xbox One console already, but it also has great appeal to existing owners who want to upgrade to the latest and greatest of what Microsoft has to offer. And today at Gamescom, Microsoft confirmed just how easy it will make it for those existing Xbox owners to move to their brand new shiny toy.
You can transfer your saves, files, settings, games, and apps to your home network, and then put them on your new Xbox One directly; you can also just copy them to an external hard drive, plug that hard drive into your new Xbox, and be good to go that way. This will be especially useful, since Microsoft will make patches for Xbox One X enhanced games available ahead of time- so you can download them, put them on your hard drive, and just plug that drive into the Xbox One X on launch day and play your library in 4K.
That’s not all- we also got confirmation that a ‘Light Mode’ UI (similar to the Light theme used on the Nintendo Switch) will be made available for Xbox One- you can see what it looks like in the images below. The Xbox One X will be launching on November 7, for $499.
