Xbox Scorpio ‘Motion Design Language’ Mentioned By Microsoft Engineer

Motion? Motion controls? UI name? What is it?

The upcoming Xbox Scorpio is a complete and total enigma, and we don’t actually know much about it. Now, an engineer from Microsoft has gone ahead and updated his LinkedIn profile with a rather intriguing bit about the Scorpio, that has us wondering exactly what he is referring to.

“I’m currently prototyping Xbox Scorpio Motion Design language, which is targeting Holiday 2017”, the software design engineer writes. “What are we going to do with 6 teraflops of graphical processing power? Find out next year on Christmas morning ;)”

There are several things to take note of and unpack here- first off, Motion Design Language? Is it referring to a motion controlled interface, or is it more about the name of some design language philosophy? The latter could be it too, and a lot of companies use words like ‘flow,’ ‘motion,’ and ‘dynamic’ in their UI names. Secondly, Christmas morning? While we are reasonably positive the Scorpio is launching before then (especially since the difference between the Scorpio’s release date and Christmas next year is noted by the designer himself), is it possible a new UI is debuting on Christmas?

This is all most interesting- we can’t wait to see what Microsoft has planned up its sleeve come E3 2017.
