Xbox Series X/S Has Sold Over 18.5 Million Units, Analyst Estimates

Ampere Analysis’ Piers Harding-Rolls estimates that as of the end of 2022, Microsoft's current-gen consoles have collectively sold over 18.5 million units worldwide.

It’s been years since Microsoft stopped providing sales figures for its Xbox consoles, and in the absence of official numbers being provided by the company, it’s fallen to industry analysts to fill the void with the next best thing, which is estimates of sales. To that end, Piers Harding-Rolls of Ampere Analysis has recently provided an update on what the Xbox Series X/S’ estimated sales figures are.

As per the analyst, as of the end of 2022, the Xbox Series X and Series S have collectively sold over 18.5 million units worldwide, which is roughly half of what the PS5 has managed. The analyst notes that sales for all hardware have recently been throttled by global supply shortages (which have recently started easing up), and even though the Xbox Series S has been much more readily available, there wasn’t as much demand for it during the Holiday season as there was for the likes of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.

It was reported a little over a year ago that Xbox Series X/S’ estimated worldwide sales stood at 12 million units.

With supply shortages having eased up worldwide, presumably, both Sony and Microsoft will be expecting significant improvements to hardware sales over the coming months.
