Launching a console in the middle of a pandemic must surely have been a real challenge for both Microsoft and Sony, but all things considered, they’ve been up to the task. Supply constraints and messy pre-order issues have been problems for all the new consoles, but there’s no doubt that they’ve enjoyed successful launches.
Microsoft have previously confirmed within two days of the Xbox Series X/S’ release that the new console duo had the largest launch in Xbox history, and the company recently elaborated on that in its recent quarterly conference call. The Xbox Series X/S’ sales out the gate continued throughout the month, with the duo selling more units in its launch month (November 2020) than any other Xbox console has ever done so far. Those sales contributed to drive heavy profits for Microsoft in the previous quarter.
Keeping in mind the aforementioned supply constraints, that’s an impressive achievement, and sales are bound to grow stronger as more consoles become available for purchase in the market. Microsoft has stated that it’s working to ensure supply issues are sorted out at the earlier, though expects constraints to continue until Q2 of this year.
