Backward compatibility has been a crucial part of Microsoft’s strategy in the console space for a few years now, and like many other things, they’ve carried that forward into the new generation of consoles as well. The Xbox Series X and Series S are not only capable of playing games from across the Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One libraries (though not without exception), certain games also receive enhancements on the new consoles, from booster frame rates and resolutions to even natively added HDR.
There were a number of games that received those enhancements on the Xbox Series X and Series S when the new Xbox duo launched a couple of months ago, but can we expect more games to receive the same treatment this year as well? Xbox’s director of program management was asked that question on Twitter, to which he simply responded “yes.”
Given the admirable way Microsoft have handled backward compatibility on Xbox so far, one would assume that there’s some good stuff to look forward to this year. Hopefully we’ll be hearing more about that soon.
