While there is much talk out there right now about next generation consoles, we can’t forget that game streaming is another thing that’s creeping up on us. Microsoft’s xCloud is one such service that the company plans to use to get into that new potential market. And it sounds like we should be getting it soon on a wider scale, and that it will be going through some changes.
Tom Warren from the Verge has reported that Microsoft is planning to upgrade the xCloud servers to the Xbox Series X hardware starting next year. In current tests, the Xbox One S is the base, so it will be a big jump and allow the potential for xCloud to stream next generation games.
While there’s no date on when the service will be available on a wide scale, Warren says he’s heard that Microsoft is planning to launch it as part of Game Pass sometime this year. Hopefully, we’ll get a chance to check out how it all works soon.
