Xbox Surface: Initial Hardware Planning Stage Underway

Xbox Surface has now reached initial hardware planning stage.

Before you start reading this post, here’s some advice: take this information with a grain of salt. Microsoft has been reportedly working on a mini Xbox, a  7 inch computer tablet known as Xbox Surface, according to a report by The Verge. Xbox Surface has now reached the initial hardware planning stage, says the report.

According to the reports, the  Xbox Surface is being developed at Microsoft’s offices situated in Silicon Valley. In order to maintain secrecy Microsoft has  limited employee access to its Interactive Entertainment Business division.

The reason behind this is pretty obvious. Microsoft must have ramped up testing of the tablet and hence allowed other members of the team to probably develop games and apps for it.

But the question remains whether Xbox Surface will launch before or after the next generation Xbox console. Considering how Microsoft likes to maintain connectivity between it’s products, I won’t be surprised if the Xbox Surface will have a close compatibility with the Xbox 360 and perhaps with the next generation Xbox.
