Xbox Ultimate Bundle on Sale for $799

Because $499 wasn't expensive enough.

Microsoft is offering two ‘Ultimate Bundles’ on sale today for Cyber Monday for its Xbox One console. Unlike the Ultimate Bundles for the PS4, however, which, while pricy, still had some semblance of value (they include the PS Vita!), these are just pricier, and as far as I can see, pointless.

The Xbox One Day One Ultimate Bundle includes a 12-month Xbox Live Gold membership, Microsoft Complete for Xbox One, an Xbox One wireless controller and three games for $799.99. Ordinarily, this would cost you $869.93, so you are saving $70.

The Xbox One Day One Bundle includes the Day One console, a 12-month Gold membership, Microsoft Complete for Xbox One and two Xbox One games for $699.95; this one would be $749.95 without the discount, so you just saved yourself $50. Go buy another game with it. Or pay the sales tax. Either works.

I don’t know, the bundles seem remarkably pointless. Microsoft also probably does not want to further the perception that the Xbox One is an expensive console. That did the PS3 no favors.
