XCOM 2 Delayed To September 30, 2K Promises More Polished Product

It's just a short delay, so it's nothing to get too bent out of shape over.

Were you waiting to play XCOM 2, the excellent (formerly) PC exclusive turn based strategy game that Firaxis released earlier this year, on your console? Well, you’ll have to wait a bit longer, as publisher 2K Games announced today that the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game would be launching three weeks later than originally announced, on September 30.

Although 2K did not provide any reason for the delay, they did promise that they would take the extra time to polish the game even more. “The short delay was necessary to ensure that the game is fully polished at launch and meets the team’s high standards for the critically acclaimed PC hit,” they said in an investor earnings report. “2K and Firaxis Games are excited to broaden the audience for this beloved series, and they will also continue to support the PC version of XCOM 2 with free and paid downloadable content.”

Three weeks isn’t a whole lot of time, and if I get a better polished, better playing version of the game on my consoles at the end of it, I don’t think I’d have begrudged 2K this delay at all.
