Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Will Come To Nintendo Switch In 2020

The open world RPG gets a HD remaster next year.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 ended up being quite the hit for Nintendo. So it’s interesting to think that the original game almost never left Japan. Only after massive fan request was Xenoblade Chronicles brought over for the Wii. Since then the series has continued to evolve and now is one of Nintendo’s successful RPG franchises. And it’s time to go back with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition.

The game was announced at today’s Nintendo Direct with an announcement trailer, which you can see below. The game will be a HD remaster, but as you can see, it’s a lot more than a simple touch up. It seems that character models have gotten significantly overhauled, looking more in line with the cel-shaded look of the sequel.

The open world RPG has had quite the re-release lifespan, going from its original limited Wii release to getting downported to the New 3DS. Now it gets a new breath of life with this release for Nintendo Switch sometime next year.
