It was recently announced at this year’s Gamescom in Cologne that all 14 studios under the Sony Computer Entertainment banner were working on PS4 games. However, speaking to IGN, president of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for SCE Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that there will be plenty of support for the PS3 and PS Vita.
“So what we have made the statement about PS4 is, actually, all of our studios are working on some PS4 titles. But that doesn’t mean that they are all exclusively working on PS4 titles. Many of them work on PS3 titles as well as PS Vita titles.”
This can be seen in games like Gran Turismo 6 being developed by Polyphony Digital for the PS3 while Media Molecule works on Tearaway for the PlayStation Vita. But will we be seeing any as-of-yet unannounced titles in the coming months? One would hope – after all, given that there are reportedly more than 70 million PS3 units worldwide, it only makes sense to continue supporting the platform.
