For nearly two decades, LEGO’s presence in video games has been tied almost exclusively to WB Games and TT Games, but it’s looking increasingly likely that that won’t be the case for much longer. Earlier this year, a VGC report claimed that 2K had signed multi-game partnership with LEGO that would encompass a number of different sports titles, and more evidence has now emerged to point to the same.
As spotted by 1414falconfan on Instagram (via VGC), a new LEGO minifigure has emerged on LEGO’s official certification website that shows a character wearing an FC Barcelona kit and a purple shark head mask. The package also bears mention of “LEGO Games”, alongside a 2K logo on the bottom right. The character shown on the package is allegedly named Finnius Dash.
A lot of that may very well align with the aforementioned report from earlier in the year, which claimed that 2K’s first game as part of this new partnership would be a LEGO football title developed by Sumo Digital (Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Team Sonic Racing). Allegedly, a LEGO open world racing game is also in development at WWE and NBA studio Visual Concepts.
Whether this would suggest that 2K and LEGO are gearing up to make an announcement in the near future, especially with The Game Awards coming up later this week, remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more updates.
