Death Stranding is such an interesting game, and so unlike anything else on the market, it merits an examination by most who are interested in the medium based on just that. Thankfully, it also helps that, for all its numerous quirks and shortcomings, it’s just really great game overall. While it doesn’t actually invent a new genre, it definitely attempts a lot of new things, and pulls most of them off well.
And now, the newest patch for this game should make your experience with it more pleasant. I don’t know how or why, exactly, since the patch notes are Nintendo-levels bad (they say, and I quote, “Optimized network functionality” and “[made] Various performance improvements”, which really tells us absolutely nothing, now, doesn’t it?
Still, performance improvements should be nice, especially if you are playing on a base PS4 system. While Death Stranding doesn’t quite seem to push against the seams of the standard PS4 as much as some other recent releases (such as Control or Days Gone do), having it run smoother, and without my PS4 sounding like it’s on the runway preparing for takeoff will nonetheless be appreciated.
