A Plague Tale: Innocence Story Trailer Tells An Emotional Tale

Gameplay, environmental design, and lots of rats dot the latest trailer.

Asobo Studio has been putting a lot of work into A Plague Tale: Innocence, an action adventure title taking place during the Hundred Years’ War in France. From visiting villages with medieval roots to fine-tuning the gameplay, the studio is quite committed to details. But if you’re wondering about the plot, then the recent story trailer should answer some questions.

The protagonists of the story are Amicia and Hugo, two siblings who escape the Inquisition and attempt to avoid the Black Death, a pandemic of plague rats. Throughout the trailer, we see the siblings navigating through narrow areas, using torches to keep the rats at bay while also facing the brutal reality of war. The contrast between their previous peaceful life and their now-terrible circumstances couldn’t be starker.

Still, the way the game presents its tale is nothing short of gorgeous. We’ll have to wait and see if the story-telling can match up, but so far, things are looking good. A Plague Tale: Innocence is slated to release on May 14th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
