Project Aces will be looking to make a triumphant return with Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, the first mainline title in the series since Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation (2007). Like previous games, you can expect the usual run of realistic and experimental aircraft. Unfortunately, one aircraft featured in previous titles will not be making its return.
We’re talking about the F-15 S/MTD, or the F-15 STOL/MTD, a variant of the F-15, which saw its first flight in 1988. It was present in Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies and the free-to-play Ace Combat Infinity, but won’t be featured in Ace Combat 7. Producer Kazutoki Kono revealed the news on Twitter, noting that there wasn’t an opportunity to implement the aircraft in the sequel.
However, Kono did say that it might return at some point later on. Whether this means the aircraft will be available as DLC for Ace Combat 7 or be featured in a future Ace Combat title is unknown. Regardless, fans should continue their support for the same.
Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is out on January 18th for North America and Europe on Xbox One and PS4. It will release for PC on February 1st.
