At this point, Call of Duty has plumbed the entire extent of modern military experience, from the historical such as the Second World War and Cold War, to the near future, to even post humanism with the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. None of this is to even mention the zombie settings that each Call of Duty game increasingly goes for. And yet, after all of this, the company is still unwilling to go for a Call of Duty game set in space. While they aren’t ruling it out entirely, they’re just not sold on the idea.
“The way that we approach the creative on our game? I don’t think we’re ever going to reach a point where we just completely ignore finding authenticity,” Call of Duty: Black Ops III multiplayer director Dan Bunting explained, pointing out that the franchise needs to always feel authentic.
Sure, I can understand that. Now if you will excuse me, I will go back to killing mechanized zombies in the alternate history WW2 setting in my Call of Duty game, thank you very much.
