Age of Wonders 4 is the Fastest-Selling Game in Franchise with 250,000 Copies Sold

On top of its impressive launch sales, the turn-based 4X strategy title also saw a peak of over 42,000 players on Steam.

Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Triumph Studios have announced that the recently-released turn-based strategy game Age of Wonders 4 is now the fastest-selling game in the Age of Wonders franchise. Taking the Twitter, the studio announced that 250,000 copies of Age of Wonders 4 were sold, and that the game saw a peak of 42,826 concurrent players on Steam.

Age of Wonders 4 was released earlier this month. Like its predecessors, Age of Wonders 4 is a mix of 4X strategy games like the Civilization franchise, along with RPG mechanics and turn-based combat. In Age of Wonders 4, players can make use of Tomes of Magic to take on powerful Wizard Kings.

The biggest new feature in the strategy game is allowing players to create their own factions by mixing and matching various traits from other pre-existing factions. Players can make anything, ranging from a clan of cannibalistic halflings, to mystical moon elves.

Age of Wonders 4 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
